Asmal endorses Ramaphosa's nomination to head ANC.(News)

AMID calls for a "new generation" of leaders, ANC national executive committee member Kader Asmal is hoping "a thousand" more ANC branches will nominate businessman Cyril Ramaphosa for the party's presidency.

Explaining the nomination of Ramaphosa last week by the Gaby Shapiro branch in Rondebosch - which has five cabinet ministers as members - the former education minister said Ramaphosa was the perfect candidate for the job.

"There was a huge majority in our branch to nominate (Ramaphosa). I hope a thousand other branches do so as well. He's got the quality of leadership we need," said Asmal.
